'The Sci-Fi Boys' is a documentary about the make-up and effects artists who revolutionized the sci-fi and horror genre. With interviews and segments featuring John Landis, Peter Jackson, Ray Harryhausen, Leonard Maltin, Steven Spielberg, Forrest J. Ackerman, Rick Baker, Roger Corman, George Lucas and many more, this film is a fantastic look into the beginnings of a craft which is widely appraised today.
Frankly, I enjoyed this documentary. It's validating to see something I love and admire become such an important aspect of modern film. With a look at 'Famous Monsters of Filmland' magazine's influence on today's premiere filmmakers, it's easy to recognize the role it, and the early special-effects artists had on modern cinema; as well as the influences which shaped the great minds of Hollywood.
