They raped her sister. . . and killed her best friend. This is an amazing tagline for tonight's film; the vigilante/action movie, 'Savage Streets'.

Starring Linda Blair from 'The Exorcist', John Vernon from 'Dirty Harry' and 'Animal House', and Linnea Quigley from 'Return of the Living Dead' and 'Night of the Demons', and directed by Danny Steinmann, who did 'The Unseen' and 'Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning', this is the quintessential revenge chick flick. Laughable dialogue, and a killer '80s soundtrack make this a fantastic Friday night feature.

Now, Danny Steinmann directed 'The Unseen' before this, and the editing ruined that film; so with 'Savage Streets', this was going to be his vision. He did such an amazing job with it, he was given the directing job for 'Friday the 13th Part V'. Unfortunately, because people are idiots, 'Part V' was met with much criticism leading Steinmann to leave his Hollywood career behind. Personally, I find this a shame because I enjoyed his work greatly, and found 'Part V' to be a fantastic sequel. Thanks, assholes.

Linda Blair and her gang, The Satins, make enemies with the wrong gang, The Scars, by stealing their car. Don't worry, there's no musical numbers. The Scars' leader, Jake, exacts his revenge by getting his cohorts to gang-rape her mute-deaf sister, Heather. Next, he power lifts her best friend overhead and tosses her over a bridge to an untimely death hours before she was supposed to get married. They're all high schoolers, by the way. Armed with a crossbow, Brenda sets out to avenge her sister and best friend while blazing a bloody trail through Los Angeles. Honestly, this is an almost perfect '80s movie; trashy and violent. I'd suggest buying a copy, especially since it might be going out-of-print soon. And if you need any other reason to purchase this movie, John Vernon's dialogue is possibly the best-written piece of work to ever grace a film's screenplay.
